sacrificial anode for aluminum boats

SME  has  a  reputation  with  aluminum  boat  builders  for  producing  the  best  and  most  reliable  aluminum  gallons  on  the  market.  The  sacrificial anode is  a  must-have  item  for  boat  use, playing  a  vital  role  in  resisting  corrosion!

How sacrificial anodes prevent corrosion

These  are  know as sacrificial anodes and can  be  made  of material  more  reactive  than aluminium, like  zinc or magnesium. These anodes are  affixed  to  the hull of the vessel  and serve as  a “sacrificial”  component  – i.e. will corrode  rather than  the  aluminum hull.  It’s called  galvanic corrosion, and it  actually  helps protect the  boat by drawing corrosive forces away from the  aluminum.  The  aluminium  hull  would  be eaten away in  water  by the  electrical currents generated  when disparate  metals are placed side by side if  sacrificial  anodes  were not  employed.  Running on  the  Lam (Anode) By self-sacrificing, these anodes maintain  the  aluminum boat while remaining safe  to be  used  in water.
